In this weekend workshop, participants will learn to coax diverse possibilities from a single linoleum block. We’ll make sculptural high texture/low contrast prints on thick paper, and explore creating surface patterns from multiple, overlapping prints on smooth, lightweight paper—perfect for collage and artist’s books. By manipulating the translucence and opacity of the inks and our choice of paper colours, we’ll expand the character and range of our prints, adding chine collé to create layers of visual interest. Finally, we will finesse the carved parts of our lino blocks to create refined textural effects, emphasizing embossed forms printed with or without ink.
