This approach explores the mechanisms of memory and the way recollections are constructed, transformed, and at times conflated with narratives, images, or imagination. Far from being a faithful archive of the past, memory appears as a dynamic process where each act of remembering contributes to a reconstruction. The oldest memories are particularly prone to this instability. They often present themselves as fragments, impressions, or images whose origins remain uncertain.

The project is grounded in an autobiographical journey structured around different places of residence, used as temporal markers to revisit the earliest years of life. These places become anchor points from which partial narratives unfold, marked as much by presence as by absence.

Stitching is used as a drawing process to evoke time, continuity, and the threads that connect memories to one another. However, the choice to expose the reverse side of the stitching reveals the fragility of this construction. The loose threads, knots, and irregularities become the visible signs of an incomplete memory—one made of gaps, omissions, and reinterpretations.

Through these fragments of narrative, the project does not seek to recover an absolute truth about the past, but rather to welcome its shadow sides and uncertainties. Between what was lived, told, forgotten, or imagined, memories remain fragile traces that nevertheless continue to shape identity. Like the threads that compose the works, they connect scattered moments and attempt to keep alive a story that is always changing. This work thus becomes a way of paying attention to what endures despite the erosion of time: a few images, a few sensations, a few fragments which, however incomplete, continue to inhabit the memory.
