La Manivelle, Rendezvous de la Baie, 23 Lighthouse Road, Church Point, NS

$50 members /$60 non-members / Free for 55+

Learn the basic steps of etching in this hands-on, two-day workshop for beginners. You will learn how to prepare a metal plate, apply a protective ground, and draw your design into the surface. We will cover how to etch the plate safely using ferric chloride. From there, you will learn how to ink and wipe the plate properly and how to run it through the press to print your image. No prior experience is necessary. All specialized printmaking materials are included, but please bring a sketchbook and pencils for planning your design. Printmaking can be messy, so please wear old clothes and closed-toe shoes. This workshop is limited to 10 participants. Thanks to funding from the Age-Friendly Community Grants of Nova Scotia, this workshop is free for participants aged 55 and over.
